The Parenting and Adolescent Development (PAD) Lab is run by Dr. Gabriel L. Schlomer, Associate Professor in Educational Psychology and Methodology, a Division of the of Educational and Counseling Psychology Department at the University at Albany, SUNY. Research in the lab is focused on the relation between parenting and adolescent externalizing behavior problems (e.g., aggression, delinquency) and risky sexual behaviors with an eye toward how to prevent or reduce them. We use a variety of methodological and statistical approaches including longitudinal models and intervention designs. Our work takes a biopsychosocial approach and we often examine biological and environmental factors together to get a more comprehensive picture of adolescent development.
***Dr. Gabriel Schlomer is currently seeking 1 to 2 graduate students to join his lab starting Fall 2024. Potential students should be interested in conducting research on adolescence and how parenting and other family factors influence adolescent development. Interest in aggression, delinquency, puberty, and/or genomic designs is a plus. Potential students who are familiar with R statistical programming (or interested in learning) are highly desirable.
